SteelSeries SwitchesThe proprietary SteelSeries engineered switches have a lifetime of over 30 million clicks and are the high-speed conduit between the sensor and mouse clicks. The audible mouse click is subtle, while delivering quick, tactile responsiveness. |
Fine TuningWhen it’s time to get competitive you can really dial-in your settings thanks to SteelSeries Engine 3. Adjustable CPI, programmable buttons, polling rate, angle snapping, acceleration and deceleration are among the customizations that will make the mouse perform as you see fit. |
Forged by VictoryRival 300’s shape was molded from some of the most iconic gaming mice of the past. We took great lengths to ensure a comfortable fit thanks to the right-handed orientation, a raised back end, and sleek contours. |
Refined Side GripsSteelSeries engineers have gone to great lengths to create the best possible side grip for the Rival 300. We went back to the drawing board and sculpted new side grips from a more durable and dense material that is more resistant to sweat and abrasion. |

Ergonomic ButtonsNo one wants to do finger gymnastics just to press a button on their mouse. We engineered Rival 300 with ergonomic button positioning and size so clicks and movements feel natural, quick, and don’t take away from gameplay. |
Brilliant IlluminationRival 300 features two independent lighting zones that are capable of 16.8 million colors. Colors can be adjusted in each zone, per specific profile, game or application. Four brightness levels and three lighting effects to choose from—Steady, ColorShift and Breathe—will help make your Rival 300 your own. |
SteelSeries Engine 3SteelSeries' software suite is where you take control of the mouse and its many features. This new version of SteelSeries Engine 3 gives users a unified application to control all of their SteelSeries products, offers cross platform support, and will feature a cloud syncing system to make sure you always have your Rival 300 settings. |
3D Printable Name PlateHandy with a 3D printer? Why not design your own Rival 300 nameplate? To switch out the nameplate, simply pry the existing one off at either end (a fingernail or the tip of a pen can do the trick) and pop your new one in. |

I have a palm/claw grip and play FPS shooters like CS Go, Battlefield 1 and occasionally Rainbow Six and the likes.
My hand is 21cm x 11cm and I got used to this mouse fairly quickly!
From a performance stand point, the optical sensor is fabulous, and i have had no tracking, skipping or acceleration issues at all. The mouse feet are small and the box does not include a new set of replaceable feet, which i'd have personally liked, but its fine. The scroll wheel has a nice tactile feel to it, and the overall build feels better than the razer counterparts. Its a relatively light mouse and doesn't tire my hands on longer work or gaming sessions. The side buttons are big and have a good feedback, and the textured grip on the side is also great.
I'm so glad that the wire is not braided! Its a tangle free rubber coated wire that doesnt adhere to the mouse pad and in general is much nicer to have. Wish more mice came with regular wired cables.
The feel in the hand is great. Its long, so you can palm it easily and since the front is not too wide, you can claw it quite nicely too. Its near perfect for my grip and play style.
I got the white colored one to match my peripherals' color scheme. The white looks great but is a tad bit slippery so id suggest going for the black one with the rubber texture instead.
The RGB lighting is a little off. The software for it allows you to alter it over a large spectrum but you'll have to adjust it manually to achieve crisp colors as perceived in photographs. For example the preset red setting in the software has an orange hue, so it manually needs to fine tuned to get pure red.
I picked up this mouse for around 30-35 dollars when it went on sale and its been worth every penny. I'd even pay the whole 70 for it!
Great investment, hoping it lasts a few years!
Pros: Comfortable rubber side grips, very accurate sensor, back lighting, and great body shape
Cons: Right handed only, may collect sweat if your palms sweat, no rubber cable,
Anyway if the cons dont affect you, then this mouse may be for you. Thank you for reading and good luck finding your new mouse. I hope I helped you. :D
I bought this mouse back in March 2018 (currently November 2018), and it's been working very well and a sturdy mouse. This mouse is awesome for gaming, the primary use, but is amazing for typical pc use as well, such as surfing the web, doing work, producing media, etc. The buttons are very responsive, the sensor is very precise and all the buttons work perfectly and are comfortable to press.
Other than one thing: I'm not sure if it is just me, but my mouse wheel is starting to squeak so much. I never spilled anything on it and i keep it clean so I don't know if something inside is broken or not, but it's annoying.
Anyway, compared to the Deathadder, I really like the matte finish and the large rubber grips on each side. The Deathadder had a more cheaper plastic feel to it and had a MUCH smaller Grip which made my thumb feel very weird. The Rival 300 feels much heavier and is bigger than the deathadder so it feels more precise.
I do have to admit, I did like the RGB a little better on the Razer mouse, meaning the color was clearer. On this mouse, the top of the Steelseries logo looks like not enough light's not hitting that part.
Other than the squeak of the mouse wheel, I think this mouse is great and would definitely recommend. Let's see if this one will last as long as my previous one.
Top reviews from other countries
The RGB options for the logo and scroll wheel are great. Not much to talk about, but I always kept it on a colour shifting mode and it looked amazing.
Cosmetics aside, this mouse is really comfortable. The side buttons are the perfect size (and I find them to be surperior compared to the tiny ones on the Rival 600). You can easily customize the options and change key bindings in the SteelSeries Engine software.
Sensor works well; however, the reason why I replaced this mouse was because I was getting weird issues where my cursor would shoot straight down and make me look at the floor in games. I wouldn't be able to look up until at least 0.5-1 second later. This was especially annoying in Overwatch and seemed to happen during my Dragon Blade ultimate as Genji. I know people with this mouse who don't experience this issue, so maybe my sensor was failing after over a year of heavy abuse. Haven't experienced it since I switched mice.
Before the issue started, I found the sensor to be reliable and accurate. I kept my DPI around 1600 and played on low sens in-game with absolutely no issues.
If you're in the market for your first gaming mouse, I'd say definitely go for this one. Great customization options. Good sensor. Very comfortable. All these combined at a price point like this make the Rival 300 a very solid mouse.
I already had my eyes on the rival 300 and it was in my wish list. When its price droped to 3.5k i purchased one and BANG, them edshots are back.
The shape of rival 300 is just perfect for large hands with palm grip. Whole of your palm gets good area to rest and grip. Weight is very well balanced and the rubberised side grips are perfect. In g403 my ring finger struggled to find some space to rest but the rival 300 has abundant space as the side grips are huge. Both the ring and pinky fingers contribute in lifting the mouse which makes it easies to lift than any other mouse mentioned above. The lift off distance is also low and comparable to any good laser sensor. The tracking is impeccable, no spin outs or jitter at 800 dpi.
But.. the rival 310 is out and available for around 5k now! So should you buy the 310 instead? Well I did end up buying a 310 and frankly speaking, I didn't like it. It is more expensive and its sensor is meant for people who play at a higher dpi of 3000+ , I don’t know anyone who plays cs or other fps games at such high dpi. So I can’t recommend the 310 at its current price point when the 300 is still alive and kicking. Don’t get me wrong, in reality the 310 is a perfect upgrade from the 300, but the weight difference is too much for my muscle memory. 310 feels too light and the sensor too precise (I play cs with raw input off but with the 310 it just didn’t feel right). Reducing the polling rate on the 310 to 500 hz did match it with the 300 but the lower weight was still a big issue for me. It made my aim inconsistent . The texture of the 310 is better than the 300 and the side grips are made of silicone but still I couldn’t find a good reason to use it everyday. I just hope steelseries updates the 300 with the texture and side grips of 310 keeping the wieght and sensor same.
Bottom line- look out for good deals on the rival 300 and get it. You won’t regret it.
Thanks for reading.
EDIT- the picture posted is my friend’s rival 300 after almost 3 years of use. Thats why the silicone grips are better than rubber.

EDIT- the picture posted is my friend’s rival 300 after almost 3 years of use. Thats why the silicone grips are better than rubber.
